On their debut studio album, Alex Yan addresses personal struggles, translating the emotions of the subjects into sound. The songs sound intentionally unprofessional, raw, at times grotesque—similarly to how the album cover looks—to present the unfiltered truth. On Ai, the artist consolidates sounds that do not quite belong together, yet they somehow do. All is intentional.
